PASTOR ADEBO TOMOMEWO
Joshua 1:8 – “ This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” It is you who makes your way prosperous not God. It is your responsibility to get wisdom from the word of God and put it to work. God will give you the key to prosperity; you are the one who will open the door to it. God will show you the way; you are the one who will walk in it. We must walk under this mentality that it is our responsibility to get wealth.
If you are in covenant with God there are things that should not tamper with you because you are a seed of Abraham. Your understanding of the covenant determines how far God can go with you. David had the covenant in mind when he fought Goliath. Your awareness of the covenant increases your confidence in God.
The covenant has divine covering. Job enjoyed that. Job was one of the sons of Issachar – Genesis 46:13, “The sons of Issachar were Tola, Puvah, Job and Shimron.” Job understood the blood covenant – Job 1:5, “So it was when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all.
Ephesians 2:11-12 – “Therefore remember that you were once Gentiles in the flesh – who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands – that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise having no hope and without God in the world. To have wealth should be a common thing to those in Christ. It is common for Jews to have money. Everyone who was in the covenant of Abraham prospered in strange lands. Abraham prospered in Canaan, Isaac prospered in Gerar. Your needs are met when you understand your covenant rights. Exodus 11:7, “But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
God helped Uzzaiah against the Arabians. 2nd Chronicles 26:5 – “He sought God in the days of Zechariah who had understanding in the visions of God; and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper.” Uzzaiah sought the Lord on how to have understanding in interpreting divine ideas. Out of his seeking God, came prosperity. Seeking God is not limited to prayer, is involves studying and going to church. Uzzaiah did not seek things, he sought the Lord and things were coming. By virtue of seeking God, Uzzaiah got engineering ideas from God.
Jeremiah 33:20 – “Thus says the Lord: ‘If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season, then my covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests my ministers.” David walked with God to a point that he understood covenant. That is why he was different from all his brothers. David survived in the wilderness because of the covenant. Your winning capacity is rooted in the understanding of the covenant. David entered a covenant with Jonathan because he knew the power of covenant.
Moses wrote the book of Genesis and therefore he was aware of the covenant. Exodus10: 24-24 – “Then Pharoah called to Moses and said, ‘Go, serve the Lord; only let your flocks and your herds be kept back. Let your little one also go with you.’ But Moses said, ‘you must also give us sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God. The last battle that was fought in Egypt was concerning finances. The devil knows that when money gets in to your hand, you will serve God with it.
